Word Chain

by Rita Anderson
(Kansas)

This game will help your child to understand their feelings. Have your child or class pick a word that seems to describe their mood or what they may be feeling. It might be excitement, happy, angry, or blue, etc. Write that word out in the color that matches the mood.

Now, have child ask themselves why they feel that way: parents, pets, friends, weather, etc. Have kids write the first word that comes to their mind in a color that represents this word. Try to build each word off of another word that has already been written, like a crossword puzzle. Keep going until the page is full or you run out of ideas.
