See-Through Pictures

See-through pictures are fun to create and make unique gifts for family and friends!

We like to decorate our windows with these pictures because they look great with the light behind them - and they make fantastic decorations for any child's room.

Tips...

The gel medium mentioned below can be found in your local craft store. We have found that drawn pictures make the best and most original pictures. Some magazine pictures cannot be used because the picture on the back gets "in the way". When using magazine pictures, pick the pictures that have as little on the back as possible.

To make see-through pictures you will need...

gel medium (found in arts and crafts store)
magazine picture or a picture you have drawn on shiny shelf paper
paint brush

Directions...

Brush twelve coats of gel on a magazine picture or picture you have drawn on shiny shelf paper.

Let the gel dry between the coats.

When the gel dries after the last coat, soak the picture in water until you can peel off the paper.

Then, you will see that, like magic, the picture is stuck in the gel!
