Cooking with your kids is an excellent way to teach them how to prepare meals. This is a wonderful way to help them become more independent. And, with independence comes more help to you. Pretty soon, when they get old enough, maybe they can start cooking meals for you! Cooking is an outlet to help them become more careful in the kitchen and grow their knowledge about cooking techniques and recipes.
You will notice a difference in your child if you start working with them in the kitchen. You have to have patience though! It can be annoying at times. Kids have a real knack for spilling things.
So, next time your child asks if he or she can help you cook, say YES!
Try to schedule a time each month to make a recipe together. Scheduling helps you get prepared so that you have all the ingredients needed for the recipe you choose to do.
