Egg Carton Garden

An egg carton garden is incredibly simple to put together and a great introduction to gardening for younger children.

Here's what you'll need to make it:

An egg carton (preferably made with recycled paper)
Potting soil
A packet of flower seeds (if you want to replant them outside, then marigolds or pansies are ideal)
Water

Directions:

Cut the lid off the egg carton with a pair of scissors, ensuring that the egg 'cups' are intact.

Fill each egg cup with the potting soil.

Make a little hollow in the soil in the center of each egg cup and drop in two or three seeds. Gently cover with the soil.

Put the egg carton in a sunny place (ideally on the windowsill).

Add a little water to the soil when it looks dry (but don't add too much).

Wait for your flowers to sprout - then bloom!
